WHAT IS MISCANTHUS GIGANTEUS?
Miscanthus is a perennial grass from Asia that has two particularly interesting advantages for biofuel production: it produces a lot of biomass and requires little input. The exceptional productivity of Miscanthus is explained by its photosynthetic C4 metabolism, which is identical to that of tropical plants such as maize, sugar cane or sorghum.
Thanks to this metabolism, the plant optimizes the capture of carbon dioxide and its subsequent transformation into organic matter.
